A brief history of Montague Gardens
In 1890, Dawie Graaff, became the mayor of Cape Town. He undertook a number of reforms to modernise the city including electrification. Graaff saw the potential in Montague Gardens and bought up land which extended from De Grendel all the way to Paarden Eiland and the former racecourse in Milnerton.
Today, like Graaff, businesses continue to see the value in Montague Gardens. This has been spurred by Montague Gardens' Marconi Beam becoming a Special Rating Area (SRA) in 2017.
